FRED W. MALEK

Managing Partner

 

Fred is the Co-Founder and Managing Partner of District Hospitality Partners, a hotel investment and management company focused on the independent and boutique hotel segments.

Prior to District, Fred was CEO and co-founder TIG Global responsible for all elements of company’s growth, strategy, and operations until selling the company to Micros Systems, the largest technology services company in the hospitality and restaurant space (“mcrs”). TIG Global grew from a start up in 2002 to the largest Interactive marketing Services Company in the world serving over 1,000 clients
across the globe. Investors in TIG Global earned a 99% compounded IRR on their investment in TIG Global over 8 years.

Fred is also a co-founder and board member of Hubs1, China’s third largest reservation distribution company. The company’s valuation has increased 40x since its initial investment.

Previously, Fred was the Vice President of Acquisitions and New Business Development at Thayer Lodging Group where he directed the hospitality company's new business ventures, strategic developments, and Internet distribution
strategies. During his tenure, he spearheaded the growth of the company's hotel assets from 2,000 to 4,000 rooms, adding an incremental $1 billion to the portfolio valuation. Previous to Thayer Lodging Group, Fred worked for Bank of America and for Nomura Capital (CMBS hedge fund) raising several billion dollars for real estate ventures primarily focused on hotels and hospitality.

Fred also served in several areas of the military, including a tour of duty in the Navy Special Forces and a combat mission in Desert Storm. He holds a Bachelor of Science Degree from the U.S. Naval Academy and an MBA from the Wharton School of Business.

Fred was awarded the Cornell Hospitality Innovator Award for TIG Global’s advanced use of the online space to materially impact the top line and valuations
of its client hotels. TIG Global also received worldwide accolades for its work in Internet marketing from multiple online organizations (Webby awards, Internet
Marketers of the year from the hospitality Sales and Marketing Organization), as well as Washington DC’s top corporate philanthropy company in 2009 from the
Washington Business Journal.

TRIP SCHNECK

Managing Partner

 

Trip Schneck is the Co-Founder and Managing Partner at the recently formed hotel investment and management company, District Hospitality Partners. Prior to District, Trip was the president and co-founder of TIG Global. As president, he was responsible for the overall strategic direction, development, and operations of TIG Global, which offered strategic interactive hotel sales and marketing programs with the proven ability to raise online visibility, drive direct incremental revenue, and deliver unrivaled ROI to hotels. Trip sold the company to MICROS in December 2009, which resulted in investors earning a 99% compounded IRR on their investment over an eight year period.

Previously, Mr. Schneck served as vice president of asset management and strategy at Thayer Lodging group, a private hotel ownership group with a nationwide portfolio. He oversaw distribution strategies, revenue management, sales, marketing, and business development initiatives across the company. He was also responsible for the asset management of the portfolio, comprising 23 hotels with a market value in excess of $2 billion.

Prior to joining Thayer Lodging Group, Mr. Schneck served as the operations director for several hotels and as a consultant working with large pension funds to improve hotel investment operations. He holds a bachelor's degree from Michigan State University and he received his MBA from the RH Smith School of Business at the University of Maryland. Trip also serves on the advisory board for Cornell’s Center for Hospitality Research and the School of Hotel Management at Auburn University.
